David Pears (8 August 1921 – 1 July 2009) was a British philosopher renowned for his work on Ludwig Wittgenstein.〔http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/jul/03/david-pears-obituary〕〔http://www.independent.co.uk/news/obituaries/david-pears-philosopher-renowned-for-his-work-on-wittgenstein-1737961.html<〕 An Old Boy of Westminster School,〔http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/obituaries/article6625699.ece〕 he was in the Royal Artillery during World War II, and was seriously injured in a practice gas attack.
